hi all!
i've got some ponderances about a couple things regarding
6.0 updates....
- sh.hpbin.sys. in every case, i've had to alter the
nmstack to 40 million. i seem to remember <someone> saying
the stack for the shell was going to be 'fixed' in 6.0.
(why 40 million? that's the number i used for the shell
under 5.5....and that number was recommended
by...umm...errr...someone on the list, i think. doesn't
really matter, other than i know that with that size stack
our java app will work.)
- back-dating of software. also, in every case, i've had
to reapply java because the version of java on the 6.0 tape
was considerably older than what we were actually running.
i haven't checked samba or apache....but i suspect they're
in about the same state. i think the os update process
needs to be 'smartened up' (is smartened a word? :-) to not
back-date software like java, apache or samba.
any thoughts?
(btw, took my 995 up to 6.0pp2 (plus reactive patches) over
the weekend. done in 6 hours! pretty good i think....since
most of that was waiting on the system to boot
:-) - d
