NO, the driver uses the ALLBASE optimizer to accelerate the ODBC queries.
The ODBC performance is quite remarkable!

Yes, you need ALLBASE G1.17 or higher. With this release the update
statistics command has been enhanced to use 'best case' TPI statistics
for plan evaluation. Third Party  and Image B-tree indices both generate
efficient, predictable plans. G1.19 of Allbase is currently available
as a patch.
