We get 40GB regularly on a DDS-3 125M DAT with Hardware Compression enabled.
Another advantage over DDS-2 (apart from reliability :)) is speed - up to
twice the throughput, IIRC.

So, I agree, replace your existing DDS-2's with a single (or two) DDS-3's.
