At least at this point in their were some distinct IO differences.  I think that
at the very least they used different HPIB cards, and of course, the 6-port
mux is the terminal access method as opposed to the dtc.
 
This is all dated information from my data-overloaded brain, so forgive me if
I am incorrect.
