Well, thanks to some tips from the excellent people on this list, I finally
figured out the problem:
The data base name was supposed to be passed as one of the calling parms,
but was not being passed at all! Fixing the CALL statement in the main
program fixed the problem.
What was/is real interesting is that the loader/linker never complained that
the subprogram was expecting three parms and only getting called with two...
