their database shadowing product will let you enter transactions on "both
sides of the shadow".

Does anyone on the list know where I can find a detailed definition
of Raid levels (0,1,0/1,3 & 5). I have a bullet list but no detail.

    >>
RAID 0 is disk striping, data is striped across the disks. Higher throughput.
You cannot recover a lost disk. Requires 2 or more disks.
RAID 1 is disk mirroring. It requires double the amount of disc space.
Somewhat higher throughput. You can recover a lost disk. Requireseven number
of disks.
RAID 4 is disk striping with one disk dedicated to parity. Higher troughput.
You can recover a lost disk, either the parity disk or any of the others.
Requires 3 or more disks.
RAID 5 is disk striping with parity. The parity is distributed across the
drives. Highest troughput. You can recover from a lost disk. Requires 3 or
more disks.

Can't remember what 2 and 3 are, but I expect they are variations on the
theme.

Kind regards,
