Sorry,
but Mark Boyd is wrong, Mark Bixby is right, in that, any effect on U.S.ecomomy
WILL affect most if not all Western economies. The Australian stockmarket
follows what happens in U.S. and any recession in U.S. will certainly be felt in
Australian economy, and as our Prime Miinister said before leaving the U.S.
"anybody that thinks other nations (including Australia) are immune from these
terrorist attacks is deluding themselves"

I am sure that all (reasonable) Australians are feeling for the American people,
especially those who lost family or friends, although it seems amazing that it
appears that the casualties only seem to be about 10% of the people that were
probably in the WTC, based on reports this morning (Thursday 07:00 AEST) giving
the figures as 4700.

No doubt the Australian Government and the Australian people will back any
action that the U.S. takes in response to these attacks.

Much of normal TV programming here has been replaced by nonstop reports from New
York, and we have seen many tragic reports as well as many miraculous escapes.
However, although it is obviously impractical in this day and age, it seems that
a complete news blackout (censorship) would have been more appropriate, as these
terorists, and various protest groups, rely and thrive on the publicity they get
from news coverage, and I feel that this is often a major factor in such
actions.

You're speaking like someone that's never been a bully and you are reading
more into the attack than is really there. This wasn't an attack on
humanity or an attempt to disrupt global economy.
It was an unprovoked attack on The Unite States of America. It was just
that and exactly that simple. It's our fight and nobody else's.

The reason that NATO should be involved is that terrorism is a global
problem. It can affect anybody anywhere, and an attack on the financial centers
of
one country can affect other countries.

All countries in the world have a stake in the outcome of this.
