There is nothing quite like SPT/iX on HP-UX. There are some tools that
do some similar functions, but they do not behave the same.
SPT can have a granularity down to the intrinsic level. It uses the MI
to monitor a program. It is not necessary to recompile the program
being monitored, unless the SPT-specific intrinsics are used.

On HP-UX, the DPAT program, part of the HP/PAK set, does something
similar to SPT, but it uses a different mechanism. It actually samples
the program information at intervals specified by the user. The
Measurement Interface has nothing to do with it. Results are similar,
  but the collection methods vary.
