I guess a degausser could be pared down to being "a honkin' big magnet..."

Places that often have these are sound studios/radio stations, etc. You
might find out from them where to buy/rent/borrow one for something like
this.

I ruined a couple of wristwatches using one at the college radio station I
worked at, back in the day...
