just as an fyi.... the *only* mpe application that we have that was moved to unix (the rest have all be abandoned (move the data only)) was/is predominately written in cognos. because (newer releases of) powerhouse will run on both platforms, it made the move (somewhat) easier. (they hit isses with powerhouse on unix...). i'm not sure of the status of powerhouse on unix -- that's probably worth checking (seems kinda silly to me to put all that effort in only to find that cognos is abandoning powerhouse on unix). the standard warnings about licensing costs apply! also, this particular application had done a good job of staying up-to-date with powerhouse. in particular they had converted to the new-style dictionary (well before the move to unix). the fact that they had done this made the move possible. powerhouse on unix won't support (afaik) old-style dictionaries. - d

Subject: [HP3000-L] powerhouse migration to hpux

I posted a message earlier today and have gotten several replies thus far.
Thanks to all of you who responded. This posting is specific to migrating
Powerhouse Quick with Cobol calls to HPUX. I'm not talking about
converting it to another language. I thought I heard a year or 2 ago that
it was impossible without some type of change to the way that Quick works
(this would have to be done by the vendor) and that the vendor had, at that
time, been unwilling to do it. Can anyone shed some light on this. Has
anyone done it or do you know of someone who's done it.
Mike
