Today I received what may be a new form of annoyance SPAM. Not quite what I
would call a virus, but pretty annoying anyway. Wondering if anyone else out
there has been receiving similar emails and if anyone knows how to stop OE
from doing what it does.

The email came from "[log in to unmask]" with a subject of "Atwoods,
Get Drugs Shipped to Your Door!". In other words regular old SPAM.

But when one clicks on the message, OE immediately puts the line "Searching
message for hyperlinks..." in the status bar. And then hangs for five
minutes or so tying up most of the CPU of the PC. OE slowly goes through
"Searching message for hyperlinks (10% complete)", "Searching message for
hyperlinks (13% complete)", etc until it is at 100%. This happens even if OE
is in OFFLINE mode and the PC is completely disconnected from the Internet.
It happens even when the preview pane is turned off.

Even when one simply tries to right click the message to delete it, OE goes
into this "Searching message for hyperlinks" mode.

When I inspected the source for the message it appears to be nothing but
thousands upon thousands of email addresses inside the message text.

I am running Windows 98, OE 6.
