There was another post with virtually the same question. Here was the reply:

Steve,
This error is related to TPI (third party indexing). Omnidex or Superdex.
Is it installed on this box? Is TPI enabled on the dabase?

Subject: TurboIMAGE Error Message: UNRECOGNIZED RETURN STATUS: 3906

Hi all,

We had a disc failure Friday afternoon which took our 928 down. I ran
DISCUTIL and saved a goodly number of our database files. Today, I've
restored the databases from our last good backup to our crash&burn 918, then
used Volutil's recover facility to put the saved datasets back, and
altfile'd 'em to make the creator and groupid appropriate. When I try to
open the database in Query, I get the status 3906 message. What have I
forgotten?

Steve Ellis
