Gentle HP 3000 List Members,

As many of you are aware, Jerry Pournelle, the sci-fi author, has a regular
column in the magazine Byte. Some of you may not know that he also has an
adjunct to his column at the Byte web site.
A few among you may also not be aware that I try to dispel myths and
fallacies about Mickey$oft when I encounter them on this list. Whilst
anecdotal evidence is always compelling and sometimes damning, it is just
that, anecdotal evidence. There will always be people with problems with
Windows 95 and PCs and computers in general. Heck, I have anecdotes about
the HP 3000. But overall, the stuff works, and works well.

Mr. Pournelle, in his January '98 web exclusive "Of Digital Wallets and
Digital Video", found at http://www.byte.com/views/jerrylst.htm, presents
some interesting thoughts about Microsoft bashing and the DOJ crusade. You
will find that stuff toward the end of the column. Mr. Pournelle puts
into much better prose what I have been trying to say for the last year or
two.

BTW, there is not Mac bashing in his column, they use Macs also.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .
