The only reason I prefer to use listspf to pre-qualify the spoolfiles instead of
Spoolf;show is one of paranoia.
With listspf, there is little risk of doing any accidental processing.
A few months after I first started using MPE (several companies and years ago),
I accidentally entered the command
SPOOLF O@;PRI=8;SHOW
meaning to display all those spoolfiles with priority of 8 and proceeded to
print off everything that had a priority of less than 8!!! Fortunately, it
didn't cause any disasters or anything, just a huge amount of paper!!

Subject: Re: Deleting spool files in MPE
Many have offered a solution of using LISTSPF to qualify spoolfiles using
the SELEQ parm. When satisfied that the selection criteria is good, change
it from LISTSPF to SPOOLF and add ;DELETE.
I like the following method just a little bit better for two reasons. First,
there are less keystrokes. Second, you are less prone to errors.
Use SPOOLF ;SHOW in place of LISTSPF to qualify the files and then add a
;DELETE when you are done.
:SPOOLF o@;seleq=[date<12/15/98 and filedes=$stdlist];show
...
:REDO SPOOLF
SPOOLF o@;seleq=[date<12/15/98 and filedes=$stdlist];show
>;delete
SPOOLF o@;seleq=[date<12/15/98 and filedes=$stdlist];show;delete
