Back in the day of the eagle drives < EMC had a competitive product called the Falcon drive.

EMC sold us 16 of them to run on two HP3000 series 70 systems for the cost of 80K. The problem with them was that the cs80util was loaded on the drives and we had to perform several firmware upgrades during a two year window. Oh and the other problem with them was , when you performed a shutdown / powerdown 20% of the time the drive fans would not spin up and would cause heat problems with the drives.

I think the drive capacity was 670MB per drive, a vast improvement at the time compared to the 7933 400mb disks.

Ahhhhh the good old days, or maybe just the OLD DAYZ
