It is possible to have a bad programmer write a Visual Basic
application that reads your entire Turbo/Image database
(or multiple databases) and sucks it down to a Microsoft
Access database on a PC using ODBC.
This intentional anomaly can cause read from disc to be
paused for I/O because it can't send data down your
network card fast enough. Thus filling up your transient
disc area and causing the system to behave like it ran
out of disc space.
This helped justify our buying an additional 100MBit
network card.

Does anyone out there use ODBC on there HP? I am trying to get a grip on how
much of a drain it is on system resources such as CPU, etc.
A couple of colleages have advised that it is a bit of a hog but so far I
have found it is only using a very small amount of CPU (between 0.5& and
1.5%).
Any feedback would be warmly received!
TIA
