Hello,

I hope someone has somwthing to help us here.

We seem to have a disc drive that has failed, but

1) We can boot the system, even though the disc is in the system
volume set. They have MPE 6.0 PP 1, maybe this is a new feature.
2) we can backup most of the system, except image databases that we
think were opem when the system failed and files on the bad disc.
3) Here is the message from the store (Not helpful I'm afraid)
/VPT/PUB/GB19 NOT STORED: ENCOUNTERED OPEN FAILURE ON FILE
STMGT RETURNED UNKNOWN ERROR (S/R 2501)
/VPT/PUB/GB20 NOT STORED: ENCOUNTERED OPEN FAILURE ON FILE
STMGT RETURNED UNKNOWN ERROR (S/R 2501)
/VPT/PUB/GB21 NOT STORED: ENCOUNTERED OPEN FAILURE ON FILE
STMGT RETURNED UNKNOWN ERROR (S/R 2501)
/VPT/PUB/GB22 NOT STORED: ENCOUNTERED OPEN FAILURE ON FILE
STMGT RETURNED UNKNOWN ERROR (S/R 2501)

The files are not located on the disc wich seems to have failed.

Questions?

1) Anyone aware of a label error that may cause this problem and maybe
a way to reset it?
2) Can anyone point me to any program like SADUTIL on MPE V. That
would scan a disc for files and put them to tape?
3) Is there some other way to store these files besides using STORE
with PARTIALDB (It doesn't work)?

As you can guess I'm in a hurry.

Yes I do have a back up, but I'd lose a day of processing.

TIA
Mel Rees
