Thanks for the info. Seemed to work as advertised!

I am still confused on the second question. I tried a generic DDS certified
4-7.5m tape (~160mb) on the DDS2 drive and transferred files to the DDS1
drive fine. But yesterday I tried using a HP DDS1 60m tape and it did not
like it. The DDS2 also did not like a 90m non DDS certified tape (audio
quality).

Do I just have to try every tape that I have to find out which can be
written to on the DDS2 tape drive?

Curt,

DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP will handle the compression on/off. I don't recall
the syntax
but it's at the front of the file just text it up.

You can 90m or 120m tapes on your DDS2 drives, but only the 90m tapes in the
DDS1 drive.

Good luck.
