    Some customers are willing and ready to enter their own orders and track them, therefore the need.  Same for quotes.

    Taking it a step further, within an organization you can have a lot of HR forms filled up that way via intranets and internet as well as 
    a zillion other uses.  Cost savings have a lot to do with "self-service" transactions.   Someone mentioned that it was too 80's. To that I say...a buck saved is a buck earned.  That statement is ageless.
