Hi U-Haul,
Would like to thank everybody who replied with information and insight about this issue. Would also like to thank the friendly folks at Ideal who provided great customer service to someone who was not a customer.
Have successfully replaced the battery, it sits in a little round plastic shroud on the system board. I had to pull the core i/o, SCSI extender board and a cover plate to give me enough room to swap it out but all in all a pretty easy fix. In case anybody need to know the battery was a 3v 190 mAh br/cr/ul 2325, 2325 is the magic number.
