Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding the EOF and the FLIMIT on variable length files.
I am tracking the 'fullness' of data files on a daily basis, reporting those
that are over say 80% full (eof >80% or flimit). However, occasionally I get
a situation with a variable length file such as the following...
FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
ACC1010C 230B VA 3564 1000 1 512 2 *
In this example, due to my calculation, the file is reported as being 356%
full! However, using FCOPY, I have been able to confirm that this file can
absorb up to 11000 records of a similar type, so it really doesn't need to
be reported at this point.
My question is:
"Is there a calculation I can use to determine the maximum number of records
a VA type file can contain, therefore enabling me to only report this file
when it is approaching that limit?"
Regards,
David
