I understand according to the California state constitution, if
no one gets enough votes to be elected Governor, the candidates will
serve a term of Governor with a length proportional to the percentage
of votes they get.
This means someone like Schwartznegger would serve maybe 18 days, Riordan
maybe 6 months, someone who got only a few votes would be Governor for
maybe 5 minutes.
I was surprised to hear this, but then I remembered this is California,
so it made sense.
