There is a method with Cisco routers to be able to encapsulate the DTC
packets ( and just about any packet which is not routable) in an IP packet.
This packet gets routed and then the router at the other end puts it back on
the line as if it was local. We do this internationally with out clogging
our wan with this bridged traffic.

Actually you can connect a remote DTC to an e3K across a WAN, but it
becomes tricky and expensive. The only HP supported method that I know
about requires Openview DTCMGR at both locations. The remote DTC boots
from that remote Openview PC. Then next to the e3K, you must place a
second DTC (newer generation like 72MX) that will act as a router assist
device. You must configure both DTC's to address each other by IP
address, etc. The more complete explanation is in the Openview manual
pages...177-198
