Things to check:

Is your JINETD job running (enabling TCP/IP) on the "problem" HP3000?

Also, my NPCONFIG for our networked LP also has TCP_PORT_NUMBER = 9100 and
PJL_SUPPORTED = TRUE configured also).

Good Luck!

----------

Several months ago we configured device LP (DEV=6) to be a network printer
on all three of our HP3000 computers. Now it appears to not be working on
two of them but works fine on one. The configurations appear to be
identical
between the computers where it does not work and the one that does.

Anyone have any suggestions what to look for? I am probably just having a
brain fart and forgetting something obvious.

MPE/iX 6.0 PP2

On the computers where it does not work, print files just sit there
without
printing. The outfence and priority look OK to me.

/showout dev=lp

DEV/CL DFID JOBNUM FNAME STATE FRM SPACE RANK PRI #C
LP       #O27109    #S193   LP       READY         16   5  8   1
LP       #O27110    #S193   LP       READY         16   6  8   1
2 FILES (DISPLAYED):
    0 ACTIVE
    2 READY; INCLUDING 2 SPOOFLES, 0 DEFERRED
    0 OPENED; INCLUDING 0 SPOOFLES
    0 LOCKED; INCLUDING 0 SPOOFLES
    2 SPOOFLES:  32 SECTORS
OUTFENCE = 7

I have done a STOPSPOOL and STARTSPOOL on device 6. LP currently looks
like:

/showdev lp
 LDEV AVAIL OWNERSHIP VOLID DEN ASSOCIATION

    6     SPOOLED       SPOOLER OUT

I have done a ping on the network address on both the machine that works
and
the ones that do not. All HP3000's PING the address 199.60.248.60 fine.

I am able to print to the printer from a PC on the network.

As far as I can see, both SYSGEN and the NPCONFIG for the device are
identical on both machines.

The one that works:

     io> ld 6
 LDEV: 6 DEVNAME: OUTDEV: 0 MODE:
OS
   ID: HPTCPJD RSIZE: 66 DEVTYPE: PP

 PATH: NONE                               MPETYPE:      32   MPESUBTYPE:
0

CLASS: LP       SPOOLED  NETLP

        NPCONFIG entry:

6    (network_address = 199.60.248.60    # LJ 3SI in Printer Room
      setup_file = SLPL132S.PRTENV.SYS
      message_interval = 300)

The one that doesn't:

     io> ld 6
 LDEV: 6 DEVNAME: OUTDEV: 0 MODE:
OS
   ID: HPTCPJD RSIZE: 66 DEVTYPE: PP

 PATH: NONE                               MPETYPE:      32   MPESUBTYPE:
0

CLASS: LP       SPOOLED  NETLP

        NPCONFIG entry:

6    (network_address = 199.60.248.60    # LJ 3SI in Printer Room
      setup_file = SLPL132S.PRTENV.SYS
      message_interval = 300)

Any ideas?
