Mark,

Recently a officer from Lutris (Enhydra) send a message to the Enhydra list
expressing their doubts about the open source model for many types of
products. My position is to put MPE in the care of the most technically
competent, responsible, and motivated hands available. If that means open
source then fine. If that means a commercial organization like Allegro
then fine too. And, if in the best traditions of HP, a new company spins
off of CSY to support MPE/iX that would be fine too. I imagine that many
companies would feel a lot more comfortable with the latter options.

It would be interesting to put the question to a group that included only
those who either:
1) have performed significant system programming using the MPE/iX OS source
code or
2) have performed low level, MPE/iX system programming or
3) have performed significant porting to POSIX

Regarding the future of MPE/iX these are the kind of people whose opinion I
would pay the most attention to.

Some food for thought.
