I know that Mr. Schroeder is not the most gracefull german. neither was mr.
kohl before him.
He is just stating a fact, that many germans and europeans share.
NO WAR unless all other possibilities were given a chance. And they were
not. For the last couple years, nobody cared much if saddam acted in regard
of the resolutions.
But to go on war without showing before, that you really mean business is
taking several steps at once.
I heard numbers from European pools on German TV last night.
(As I didn't count the votes nor asked the people myself, it is just what I
heard)
91% of spanish are against war
85% of british are against war
same numbers for other countries.

Seems like some leaders don't listen to the citizens.
Not that this is a new thing.

As out tennis-shoe minister Fischer asked Mr. Rumpsfeld
convince us. Where is the proof? It is not a 12 yr old student report!!

by the way, Germany has the most troops beside the US in Afghanistan to
support the US there.
Just something to think about.

I heard some US-senators last night on CNN saying, that Germany is
ungrateful. Does that mean, that we have to agree on every issue?
Then we should be the 51st state of the US.

The NATO was created (in my little knowledge) to defend its members.
Now, if 20 yrs ago, Belgium would have declared war on the sowietunion and
then would have asked NATO to defend Germany against possible SU-
aggression, what would have been the answer?

1 Nato-member (Member is not owner but one of many) is thinking of
declaring a war (not done yet) and another member is already asking for
planning the support of another member !!!
I don't recall that being the concept and reason for NATO.
Furthermore, neither Germany nor Belgium/France said, that they will not
help turkey. They just said, that it is too early to discuss that issue.
Reason, no war has been declared. There is still hope for peace.

just my own opinion and I could be wrong or right.
