We switched to using soft fonts several years ago, somewhere around the time
the HP4000 was first released. Once you have the soft font files, all you
need to do is send them directly to the printer "as is". We have a scheduler
that sends the fonts to printers in the morning to deal with printers that
have been turned off during  the night.
