Mark,

It's too late to feel sorry for the taxpayers.  I feel sorry for the taxpayer's grand-children.

I recently read that every child born in the US starts 127,000 dollars in debt.  I think that is optimistic.  We have to stop incurring debt and start reducing the debt, before we know how much we have to pay off.

The current public debt is around 10.7 Trillion dollars.  Let's say we get a 30 year mortgage at 7 percent interest and we start paying monthly.  That means in 30 years we will have to pay over 32.1 Trillion dollars.  

That is if we stop incurring debt and start paying it off today.
