John points out the demise of BetaMax from VHS:

  Technology moves along and today VHS is being replaced by DVD.
It's a never ending cycle and whether we like it or not, MPE's days
were bound to come to and end at some point.  That point just arrived
a little sooner than we all wanted it to.
