John points out the demise of BetaMax from VHS:
>It's probably been said before, but since reading all the threads
>about the demise of the HP3000, the old comparison of Betamax Vs VHS
>springs to mind. If I remember correctly, the Betamax was technically
>superior to VHS and beloved by many but market forces moved in favour
>of the VHS system and thus the Betamax was dumped.
<snip>
Technology moves along and today VHS is being replaced by DVD.
It's a never ending cycle and whether we like it or not, MPE's days
were bound to come to and end at some point. That point just arrived
a little sooner than we all wanted it to.
