We have multiple HP3000s, and Shawn is right...there is a nice fee for each
machine; however, on your main production machine you pay a "primary"
license and the other machines are considered secondaries and are not
quite as expensive. Speedware also has a 15- or 17-tier pricing structure
(please let's NOT get into the tier-pricing "wars" thread again!) which will
shock you. I.e., we have a 987/200SX and 979/400KS machine. In HP's
support tier structure, these are in the same tier, but Speedware's structure
puts our 979/400KS machine about 6 tiers higher. Even the 979/200KS is
in a different tier than the 979/400KS. The difference? The 979/200KS
has two processors, the 979/400KS has four. Same model, more
processors. We did not find a software vendor who did it any differently,
although I must say, we did convince one of our 3rd party vendors to take
a second look at their tier-pricing structure when we upgraded our box
last fall. The vendor actually LOWERED the price of our upgrade. I told
the rep that it was inconceivable to me how they could justify such
astronomical prices when even HP did not gouge us the way they did. I
have a great deal of respect for that company as a result. Too bad they
don't all align their tier-prices the same and more inline with HPs tiers.

FWIW,

Well unless SpeedWare has recently become a charity, I would assume that
you would pay a nice fee for each machine. Unless of course you don't want
support on all the machines.

Subject: speedware support and multiple machines

If you have multiple hp3000's running speedware, do you have to pay
software support for each machine?

Thanks in advance
