If this is an issue for people, I can modify the archives to be updated
in real-time as part of another project I'm doing. I can't imagine it's
*that* big an issue, though, since if you want real-time access (and the
ability to post to HP3000-l), you can do this directly on the list server
at <http://raven.utc.edu/Archives/hp3000-l.html>.
Meanwhile, you can decide whether you'd like to read the archives from a
site with a privacy policy that says, for example,
>... 3kworld.com may match user information with third party data.
and
>Each browser accessing 3kworld.com is
>given a unique cookie which is then used to determine repeat usage
>versus initial usage, and to help in targeting ads based on user

or instead, read ad-free archives on a server that doesn't use cookies
and doesn't collect any personal information at all

One other note: Threads archived at <http://www.optc.com/Webbot> retain
permanent URLs, so you can bookmark them or refer to them on documents on
your company intranet.
