I really appreciate all the help I have been given here.

My configuration is that I have two 2gb drives in the cage of the Processor
cabinet and 2 more in a separate enclosure.

I assumed that the LDEV 1 was one of the disks in the Processor cabinet.
So, I took out the top one, restarted from the SLT and tried to do an
Install.
It just hung. No error messages, just nothing going on.
So, I took out the bottom disk completely and replaced it with the top one
that I had already removed.
Booted from the tape, tried an Install and got :
Can't access disk at 56/52.6.0

System Abort 55 from subsystem 146
Secondary status. Info =-31281 subsys=213
System Halt 7 , $0037

The Primary Boot path is 56/52.6.0 but there must be something else
(Jumpers?) that I have to do for the system to start afresh with a new LDEV
1.

I couldn't find the Mapper command.

From this, I presume that the original bottom disk was LDEV 1 but there is
something wrong with that disk such that I can't even do an Install over it.
Therefore I need to Install onto another disk as LDEV 1. How canI do that?

I still have some manuals but haven't found the relevant info yet.

I wish I could remember what I have forgotten...:(

Cheers,
John
