IIRC (it's been a while now) If the system volume set consists of more than
one drive, once you do the INSTALL, you'll have a single disc system... You
need to run Volutil and assign the new (blank) drive (newvol) ? And make
sure all other discs are accounted for... All this BEFORE you start
RESTOREing...

FYI, the first things I always RESTORE are ;DIRECTORY and /SYS/, /TELESUP/,
/VESOFT/ . Often after this first restore, I Reboot so I can get network
services started, then finish the rest of the reload after that (allowing me
to use multiple terminals if need be to check things out). After the initial
"INSTALL" you'll find network services and some other things won't start up
correctly until you finish restoring /SYS.

Subject: [HP3000-L] System Install Cheat Sheet

See the thread Procedure Check sheet in this weeks list. This is a combined
effort from myself and Chuck Ciesinski
To recover the system volume do the following:
1. Replace the bad drive
2. Insert your current CSLT into the dat drive.
3. At the Boot Menu type BO ALT (If you are not sure that your Alternate
Path is your dat drive then verify your dat drive via the Search Command.)
4. Answer Y to interact with ISL
5. At the ISL prompt type in INSTALL
6. After your system come back up Restore @[log in to unmask] with the KEEP option .
From your most current 'Fullbackup', hopefully created with the 'DIRECTORY'
option, restore your directories. This will enable the system to
re-establish connectivity to application volume sets.
7. RESTORE any accounts not on application volume sets. Generally, our
recommendation is to keep third party tools and accounts on the system
volume set. One of the first I restore is VESOFT right after SYS and
TELESUP. With their tools, putting your system back together again is a
little easier.
8. You may need to recreate some of the communications files in the NET
group
