No one has mentioned the CM versions of FORTRAN 77 or COBOL-85.  Code written
in these languages can be compiled in either CM and NM mode without changes
providing no MPE/iX features are used or are bypassed on classic systems.
As such, business which have the same applications on both classic and
PA-RISC systems are able to maintain a single version of source code and run
the same application on both architectures.

HP has indicated that the CM versions of these compilers will be dropped as
of 9/98 because there exists a NM version.  This may present problems to
some even though the hardware keeps on running or is supported under
time/materials or by a 3rd party.....
