Just need to set the record straight here.
 
It is incorrect to say that HP's ODBC does only serial reads.  ODBC has
nothing to do with serial or any types of read.  ODBC will issue SQL Fetch
commands to the RDBMS and it is up to the RDBMS to fetch the data and return
it to the c/s application via ODBC. Is it possible that you misunderstood
your account advocate, or that he/she does not know a serial read from
pablum?  (comprenne qui peux).
 
Further, you neglected to say which database you wanted to access, IMAGE/SQL,
ALLBASE/SQL, ORACLE, what?
 
Now, what is your beef with ODBCLink?  I have seen it, played with it and
find nothing wrong with it, au contraire.
