James,
My problem is not "FTP only" logons. That is handled by VESOFT security
via the SYSTEM LOGON UDC. I need to handle the converse, i.e., I don't want
FTP access for other USER IDs. Any user ID configured on the system can
bypass SECURITY/3000 and logon via FTP. I also don't know a way to get a
list of USER IDs that logon via FTP. This is the only list I get in the
JINETD STDLIST. It's nice to have a count, but who is logging on?

                Hello Chris,

Every time I start an FTP session on the HP3000 I get the
following
message in the stdlist for JFTPMON

New server created <date> on pin nn

I am using MPE 5.5. I have a program which generates an FTP
session at
least every 5 minutes. I am worried that the spoolfile will
become
very large ! Is there a way of disabling this message ?
Does this
message also appear in other releases of MPE ? Thanks for
any help

Their is no configurable way to eliminate this message,
maybe someone
out here has a trick, but the answer is no.

I calculate this entry and a blank line would be seen 228
times per
day = 456 lines and this would equal 6-7 pages of text per
day if
you printed it (I would not suggest their is value in
printing it).
The disk space utilization which takes up by 6-7 pages per
day
does not seem significant to me, but that of course is
relative to
                your available disk space.

I would certainly include a ;outclass=,1 parameter on my
JFTPMON
logon to avoid printing this $STDLIST and I would stop the
JFTPMON
before backups and "poolf delete" the $stdlist, then a new
empty
one would be created when JFTPMON log's back on...

A similar entry is also logged on 6.0 & 6.5 when FTP is
started
                under JINETD on 6.0 & 6.5:

                  Received call for: ftp tcp

P.S. The value of having this entry in the $stdlist of
JFTPSTRT or
JINETD is for trouble shooting purposes. I hope this
helps.
