Nope, have the UPS monitor process initiate a DBQUIESCE when the time
drops to a configurable limit, then initiate a shutdown when the
quiesce completes.  For bonus points, stream a configurable job when
the time reaches the configurable limit.
 
This way, you can have your job shut down those things that aren't that
important, issue warnings/bells/whistles/etc; and give you a headstart
for clean shutdown prior to the shutdown.  Extra bonus points if the
shutdown itself waits until this job logs off :-)
