We use various HP routers with DTCs. My techies tell me it goes something like
this.

To talk to an HP3000, a DTC uses a proprietary protocol called AFCP. This
protocol is typically not routable and requires that you enable bridging on your
router. We then used filters on our bridging as follows:

The router at the DTC site:
                 1. Drop all packets on ethernet circuit group.
                 2. Accept packets from the DTC MAC address only on the
                        ethernet circuit group.

The router at the HP3000 site:
                 1. Drop all packets on ethernet circuit group.
                 2. Accept packets from the HP3000 MAC address only on the
                         ethernet circuit group.
                 3. IF YOU ARE USING Openview DTC Manager to manage the DTCs
then you must also accept packets from the MAC
                         address of that workstation.

BTW, there is now a routable version of AFCP. We haven't tried it yet.

  Vince.
