Shareplex is great, and we rely on it heavily. However, it isn't
real cheap, either. Of course, Turbostore Online backup is pretty pricy as
well ($30,000 for our HP989-100 last time I checked.)

I wonder if many HP3000 software products are so expensive
is because they don't sell enough copies to spread out
the development costs,  and because it
is so expensive, they can't get more people to buy it!

Shareplex (Quest Software's Netbase) has been a good solid product
for us and is great if you have two systems so that one can backup
to the other, and then server as a hot-standby (and reporting box.)

If I may offer a suggestion, Shareplex would offer you a much better
performance and transaction throughput, since it operates at a much lower
level that TurboImage logging. And it would provide a much faster recovery
method.
