How long do I need to retain them? Are they accessed later than the current billing?

They are the workfile s that are created and used by the billing processes
to create the billing process reports. Uniques sets of files are created as
a billing cycle is processed. The BILLXREF file, as I recall, is a file that
contains the control data that indicates which bill cycle, and dates a
specific file is related to. The exact layout of the BILLXREF file was in
the data dictionary as i recall. You might want to dump, (FCOPY
FROM=BILLXREF;TO=;HEX;CHAR) to see the content.
Also, the workfile layout are available from AMISYS, contact ur rep to get
the file layouts.
A number of clients used the files to create their own unique billing
statements rather than use the stock amisys statements. A few clients use
the content of the billing files to feed other custom processes such as
revenue reports and third party warehouses.
I dont have access to AMISYS processes as I no longer work for AMISYS.

I think its pretty much what the client defines as their business policy,
their data retention rules and how much disc capacity they have.
