I am redeemed - obviously my brain knew the real question after all ... :-)
Seriously, the DTC16RX is the only DTC that uses an IP-routable
management protocol for download and maintenance.
The DTC16RX will access both MPE and TCP/IP/Telnet systems and will also
support Routable AFCP (second release due out RSN).
The DTC16RX manager (for HP-UX systems) will run on 700-series workstations
as well as 800-series systems. It also connects (via scripts) to Openview
Node Manager.
The regular DTCMGR/UX (which manages all the other types of DTCs) does
not support switching to MPE systems (AFCP protocol or RAFCP protocol).
There is a project investigating how to integrate all the HP-UX managers
into one package. As I stated in my earlier (read: brain-dead) message,
the problem with supporting DTC16RX management on the PC is the ability
to guarantee TFTP availability on the PC. I have been informed that TFTP
for the MPE systems is now available, but I know of no plans to port DTC16RX
management to the MPE platform.
Hope this helps, and perhaps I've managed to get my toes unhooked from
behind my molars ...
