Let's see, old computer relics - I guess that could be me but we aren't
talking about old compu-noids....

I have a print chain and some ribbons that were used in an IBM chain printer
that was connected by a cable that was about the size of a telephone pole to
an IBM 1130(Alfredo, didn't they have one of those at the Lab at UT in the
late 60's running Fortran I?). I can't remember the printer model but I do
remember that is was huge. The noise cover lifted by hydraulics but when it
fired up, it still sounded like an old Braniff 747 (Big Orange if you happen
to remember that one) taking off.

I also have several of the 'ball' style typing heads from the console of
that 1130 which was nothing more than an IBM Selectronic typewriter.

Such memories...boy do I feel old now...think I will go lie down..:)

John

I have an IBM 650 computer board (the type 'programmed' by plugging in your
own wires) on my wall, circa 1957. It was given to me by my father, who
worked on them at the time.

We had a similar machine in high school, though I didn't get to personally
program it (the HP3000 Series II had arrived there by then and the old IBM
machine sat mostly idle. :-) )

I'll start. I'm going though our file cabinet and discover some old printer
VFU tape. Somewhere there we also have the punch to make the tapes. That was
an expensive and precision instrument.

Wonder if I put the punch on ebay would it get any bids ;-)
