The company has a 12H auto raid(I keep it workin) and I get good performance from the 12H.  In a past job I configured a Nike 20 and the performance was poor.  I tried several tricks.  Including no raid!

My 12H is configured with 6 different LUN's.  It goes from raid 1 to raid 5 on its own.  Which makes predicting disc space fun.  I am sure it is using raid 5 at this point of utilization.  It has two controllers but MPE can only use one.

We are an AMISYS shop and I have nothing bad to say about the 12H.
