Excuse the plug, but I know that some of you are running Sun
hardware. Vaske Computer Solutions now offers Sun sales, support, service
and training, much as we have done for Hewlett Packard environments since
the early 90s. We have Sun-authorized engineers on staff at 2 Minnesota
locations, and we are training our field technicians in our other Midwest
offices. Among the sites we currently support are the technology offices
of both the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, both of whom have contracted
with us for 24 x 7 Sun hardware and software support.

We also have a Sun-certified training center in Minnesota, and we offer
Linux courses, too. Below is a recent course listing from our training
center.

We'd love to be of service if you have any Sun hardware. Please contact me
if you'd like to discuss in more detail. I hope all is well with all of you.

Sincerely,

John Lee

This course is designed for users who operate or administer the Automated
Cartridge System Library Software(ACSLS). Identify major hardware/software
components including the SL8500 and SL500, describe the ACSLS Server
processes. Understand tape pool configuration, perform tape pool
maintenance, describe the Access Control process, Identify the ACSLS logs
and their specific purposes and identify and perform the ACSLS Install and
Configuration. Explain the trouble shooting and diagnostic programs and

functions.

Week of 4/2/07

SA-245 Shell Programming: The Shell Programming for System Administrators
course provides students with the skills to read, write, and debug UNIX
shell scripts. The course begins by describing simple scripts to automate
frequently executed commands and continues by describing conditional logic,
user interaction, loops, menus, traps, and functions. This course is
intended for system administrators who have mastered the basics of a UNIX
Operating Environment (OE) such as the Solaris OE or Linux and who would
like to read and understand the various boot scripts and write their own
scripts to automate their day-to-day tasks. This course explores, in
detail, the Bourne and Korn shell scripting languages.

Week of 4/9/07

SA-200 Solaris 10 Intermediate System Administration: This class provides
students with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform essential
system administration tasks in the Solaris 10 OS on both Sparc and x64/x86
platforms, including installing software, managing file systems, performing
system boot procedures, performing user and security administration,
managing network printers and system processes, and performing system
backups and restores. This course is taken in preparation for Part I of the
Sun System Administration certification exam.

GL-314 Linux Troubleshooting: This course is designed to give the Linux
system administrator an in-depth look at common and not so common Linux
system problems. Linux system problems explored in this course are
frequently encountered with the administration of Linux Systems. This
course takes the approach to troubleshooting with a "break-fix" philosophy,
25% lecture, and 75% lab intensive content. Lab exercises contain a pool of
over 120 simple and complex real-world troubleshooting scenarios. Lab work
is flexible enough to satisfy the expectations of experienced to
intermediate administrators through ranked difficulty of scenarios.
Students will find the approach of this course of structure with
flexibility very rewarding. Lab tasks let students choose the type of
scenarios they would like to tackle, with hints, helps, and solutions to
make learning very effective.

Week of 4/16

ES-338 Sun Cluster 3.1 Administration: The Sun Cluster 3.1 Administration
course provides students with the essential information and skills needed
to install and administer Sun Cluster 3.1 hardware and software systems.
Students are introduced to Sun Cluster hardware and software product
features, hardware configuration, and software installation along with
configuration, data service configuration, and system operation.

GL-120 Linux Fundamentals: Designed to provide the essential skills needed
to be proficient at the UNIX or Linux command line. This challenging course
focuses on the fundamental concepts and tools which make UNIX and Linux so
powerful. Students in this course commonly span a variety of skill levels,
from beginners desiring a solid foundation in UNIX to experienced users
seeking to fill in gaps in their knowledge. The curriculum is designed to
provide hands-on experience. Subjects focused on during this class include
the Linux filesystem and how to manipulate it; the basic UNIX and Linux
notions of pipes, redirection, regular expressions, and other tools for
performing complex tasks; the management of processes and jobs; vi, the
standard UNIX editor; and the ability to construct shell scripts to
automate routine or difficult operations.

Week of 4/23

SA-202 Intermediate System Administration: This class provides students
with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform advanced tasks in the
Solaris 10 OS on both Sparc and x64/x86 platforms, including network
basics, managing virtual file systems and core dumps, managing storage
volumes, controlling access and configure system messaging, setting up
naming services, and performing installation procedures. This course is
taken in preparation for Part II of the Sun System Administration
certification exam.

GL-615 Linux for UNIX Administrators: Intended for administrators
proficient in UNIX environments, this course helps administrators
transition their UNIX skills to the Linux environment. This accelerated
fast track course concentrates on the popular Red Hat Enterprise Linux
distribution, and covers subjects ranging from initial installation of
Linux to day-to-day administrative tasks such as management of user
accounts and disk space. Also covered is setup and maintenance of many of
the most popular network services available for Linux, including servers
for DNS, SMB, e-mail servers, FTP, web, and caching proxy. Special
attention is paid to the concepts needed to implement these services
securely, and to the trouble-shooting skills which will be necessary for
real-world administration of network and system services.

Week of 4/30

SA-225 Solaris 10 for Experienced System Administrators: The Solaris 10
Features for System Administrators course provides students with a look at
some of the new functionality found in the Solaris 10 and Solaris 10 Update

course focuses on properly securing machines running the Linux operating
systems. A broad range of general security techniques such as user/group
policies, and file integrity checking are covered. Advanced security
technologies are taught such as Kerberos, SELinux, and the hardening of
popular applications such as Apache, databases, and email systems. At the
end of the course, students have an excellent understanding of the
potential security vulnerabilities -- know how to audit existing machines,
and best practices how to securely deploy new Linux servers.

AIX 5L for UNIX Professionals: The course enables UNIX system
administrators to install, customize, and administer the AIX 5L Version 5.3
