Well, don't forget to 'uplift' the inland bodies of water in Alaska, so
you can count that land area, too.

No, Alaska is not 4 times as large in square miles... But Texas is
primarily flat where as Alaska has very large mountains. If you flatten
Alaska out, it would be MUCH larger.

When I went to grade school, I was told that Alaska was 
4 time larger than Texas.  Unless the size of those two 
States has changed since then, it underscores the failure
of public education.
