Ahem... I just answered the organizer of the Houston meeting (with copy to
Denys). I was surprised to see how quickly Denys had ALREADY posted to
HP3000-L. So, FYI, here is my message, with the organizer's name snipped
to protect his/her privacy:

Hello, [Organizer] and Denys:

Denys's idea sounds great. In Addition to Bill Hassell's HP-UX session, I
also get to enjoy Windows and Mac material (not to mention some HP e3000
issues :-)

You mentioned that my presentation was from 9:00am to 9:50am and that
Bill Hassell's HP-UX session was at 10:00. I would dearly love to be able
to attend at least the beginning of Bill's session and I have to leave
by 12:00. So, if we can somehow squeeze Deny's session between 11:00 and
noon, I will be honored and pleased to participate.

I assume you would have some kind of projection system so that the audience
members don't have to climb over our shoulders to see the displays on our
laptops. The higher the resolution, the better (assuming, of course, that
Denys's laptop can match my PowerBook's external-video resolution :-)

Since your PowerBook uses the same video subsystem as my Armada, the external
video will not be an issue. I am currently using 1600X1200 at 32 bit color and
75Hz.

A couple of comments regarding Denys's comments:

>... It could be a lot of fun, certainly very different.

Agreed.

>I am thinking of inviting Ron Seybold to be the "judge"

Judge? I thought this was just a friendly "show and tell".

This is Texas.

Hmmm, I just re-read Denys's message and I ran into this:

> >BTW, I am thinking of changing my second talk (Windows 2000 on the Road) to
> >Windows 2000 VS MacOS on the Road

Why "VS" instead of "and" or equivalent? Or are you folks going back to
the old gladiator times? It is obvious that Denys would clobber me under
ANY choice of weapons, so that would not be any fun (least of all, for
poor little me :-)

However, if both Denys and I have the opportunity to rhapsodize about our
tools, the audience will LEARN something new, for sure. And that, after
all, is the objective. Unless you want blood, but I don't think so :-)

So, how about "Windows 2000 and MacOS on the Road"? (As a subtitle, you
might want to mention that the respective roadwarriors are Denys and Alfredo).

Perhaps you might have send the original "The Road Warrior." Movie with Mel
Gibson. Well, we do not want to recreate that, but it will be gory. There
will be heavy sarcasm, dry wit and raw humor. As for me, I might even get to
say a few things.

> >more attendance with that little ditty.

Good idea. But, again, you may want to be careful with your phrasing so
that you don't get stabbed to death on HP3000-L. Martyrdom is not in
your best interest, Denys :-)

No, I have always be more of a prophet and somewhat ahead of my time. Sigh.
