OK, from the 'am I crazy or stupid file?', this probably is the latter. HPRC
tells me that I am not supposed to be able to write in one account from an
id in another account, no matter how much this makes sense to me in its own
context, and that STORE is a special case that CAN write its SHOW=OFFLINE
listing to another account. I guess I don't quite understand what WRITE :
ANY on accounts and groups is supposed to mean, if not this... Time to RTM
some more.

If there is some reasonably safe and simple hack for creating the bytestream
file I want from operator.sys, I would love to learn it. I am considering
creating a backup.someacct user with just OP,SF,BA capabilities, but I
really don't care for that idea, since we don't regard capabilities as door
prizes.

What may be of more general interest is that, if I build the target file
first, under manager.someacct, tobyte will overwrite that file from
operator.sys! HPRC will research this, and open an SR as necessary.

Subject: file permission sanity check

I want to create a bytestream file from a STORE listing, from a STORE job
running under OPERATOR.SYS. Both the STORE listing and the bytestream file
are in group in a SAMBA shared account, thus the interest in having a
bytestream file. When I try, I get "TOBYTE.HPBIN.SYS: opening output file
"/SOMEACCT/LIST/STORED": Permission denied". This file does not already
exist. I have changed the target group permissions to ANY, and the account
permissions to ANY for all but eXecute. What permission does this need, that
it does not now have?
