Rocky,

This is most probably the clue to the cause of the problem!
NetBIOS browsing does not work well across subnets/routers.

>I'm thinking it is either a WINS issue or a workgroup issue.

I've had some success by making sure that PC and 3000 use the same
WINS server. Either tell the 3000 to "register" with an existing WINS
server, that is also used by the PC (see "wins server=" in smb.conf)
or tell the 3000 to act as WINS server and point the PC to it (see
"wins support=yes" in smb.conf).

Sounds familiar. Are you sure, you are not talking about *me* here?
