I am looking at setting up ftp access to our HP3000 and would like to
ask for some advice & comments. We are now on MPE/iX 5.5 and have
Vesoft's Security/3000. I have set up appropriate groups & user for
the ftp logins, with very limited capabilities & access (I want the
ftp access really only for remote users to ftp datafiles in to us
directly onto the HP, rather than our normal ftp server pc).
Additional security is from Security/3000, so that ftp logins can
only be as a specific user, logging into one specific group/account.
The user capabilities are ND,SF,IA; the group access is GU for all
and capabilities are IA only.

What else do I need to do to get ftp access, other than runnung the
ftp server job JFTPSTRT.ARPA.SYS?

What additional security can be used? What other capabilities are required
for the ftp user or group? I want to be able to ensure that the ftp
user cannot do anything other than upload or download files to/from
the ftp group - how can I do this?

I want to have a subdirectory set up for each ftp user site and have
the login automatically into that subdirectory and restrict access to
that user's subdirectory only. How can I do this?

If this can't be done with the ftp supplied as part of MPE, what
other ftp packages are available which do have the functionality I
require? What do they cost ($US) and how can I get them here in
Australia?

Any other comments or gotchas?

Many TIA.
