Again, If you know any Java, I would have to recommend JDBC.  I did a
project that combines data from Sybase and Oracle that is a migration of
sorts because the data structures are so different.  I'm adding ADBC to pull
in data from Image now.  The performance is great and step 4 above is a lot
easier since you can control what maps to where and do any transformation or
lookups.
